Hey everyone, ETA Prime here! We’re going to be reviewing a really interesting new product today: the OneX M1 Mini PC. This is OneX Player’s first small PC, and it’s powerful with some amazing features and characteristics. Stay tuned as we examine what makes the OneX M1 unique in case you’ve ever wondered how a tiny PC can function on par with a desktop computer.

Design and Build Quality

The OneX M1 Mini PC has a sleek and contemporary appearance thanks to design ideas taken from the OneX GPU eGPU. It’s a little device without sacrificing performance or connectivity. The M1 is powered by a USB Type-C connection, and the package comes with a 100W power supply and USB Type-C cable that can be used to charge other devices as well.

The RGB lighting that can be customized for the unit’s front and back is one of its most notable features. It improves the overall appearance and lends a personal touch. The power button, an RGB button for controlling light, and a mode button for adjusting TDP are all located on the front panel of the M1. A great degree of customisation is possible with these options, whether you want to precisely adjust the lighting or make last-minute performance adjustments.

Port Selection and Expandability

The M1 doesn’t skimp on ports. The rear panel features:

  • A 3.5mm audio jack
  • Ethernet port
  • Micro SD card slot
  • Two full-size USB 3.2 ports
  • DisplayPort
  • HDMI
  • Dual USB4 ports

The primary power and RGB lighting controls are located up front, along with an OCuLINK connection concealed beneath a screw-compartment cover. Performance can be greatly increased by connecting extra GPUs, such as the OneX GPU, over this OCuLINK connector.

Hardware and Performance

The Intel Core Ultra 9 185H powers the OneX M1’s internal components. With performance cores clocked at 5.1 GHz and efficiency cores clocked at 3.8 GHz, this 16-core, 22-thread CPU is a monster. With 32 GB of DDR5 RAM that can be expanded to 64 GB, this little PC is well-suited to manage intensive activities.

The Arc Graphics iGPU from Intel, with a base rate of up to 2.35 GHz, is also included in the M1. Even though its integrated GPU can handle simple chores and some light gaming, pairing the M1 with an external GPU through the OCuLINK connector can really increase performance. The RX 7600 MXT eGPU linked via this port performed admirably in our tests.

Software and Controls

The OneX console software makes it simple to control the M1’s performance. With the help of this tool, you can: Adjust TDP from 15W to 60W

  • Customize fan curves
  • Control RGB lighting effects
  • Switch between performance modes

The console additionally offers an overlay for performance tracking and configuration modifications. The unit’s BIOS provides more customization possibilities for users who prefer manual adjustments, but the software controls are easier to use.

Storage and Upgrades

The magnetic compartment located on the bottom of the M1 makes it easy to access the internal storage. An NVMe SSD slot with a 1TB disk pre-installed is located within; if necessary, you can upgrade to a 2TB drive. The M1 has enough of capacity for all of your files and apps and supports quick storage.

Benchmarks and Gaming Performance

OneX M1 Mini PC Review: Benchmarks and Gaming Performance

In order to evaluate the OneX M1’s gaming performance, we conducted multiple benchmarks:

  • 3DMark Night Raid: Achieved a score of 28,650.
  • 3DMark Time Spy: Scored 3,796.

These benchmarks show that the small PC performs well, but let’s see how it does in actual gaming situations.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart produced an average frame rate of 70 FPS at 1080p low settings with Intel’s XeSS set to balance. This demonstrates the integrated GPU’s capacity to run contemporary games at playable frame rates.

At 1080p low settings, Shadow of the Tomb Raider averaged 59 frames per second, which was a substantial improvement above the 42–48 frames per second that prior Arc GPU drivers displayed.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales averaged roughly 74 frames per second at 1080p low settings with XeSS set to balance.

With the integrated graphics turned on to performance, Cyberpunk 2077 managed an average of 55 frames per second at 1080p. Further lowering the resolution would aid in enhancing its performance.

External GPU Performance

OneX M1 Mini PC Review: External GPU Performance

An external GPU connection is a game-changer for fully realizing the M1’s capabilities. Both USB4 and OCuLINK connections are supported by the OneX M1, with OCuLINK providing a faster bandwidth of up to 63 Gbps. When we combined it with the OneX GPU, which has the Radeon RX 7600 MXT, performance was greatly improved:

  • 3DMark Night Raid: Improved to 55,950.
  • 3DMark Time Spy: Boosted to over 10,000.

In real-world gaming:

  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 1080p very high settings saw an average of 134 FPS.
  • Spider-Man: Miles Morales at 1080p very high settings averaged around 180 FPS.
  • Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p ultra settings achieved 82 FPS.

The RX 7600 MXT made the M1 into a powerful gaming device that could easily handle 1080p ultra settings or 1440p high settings.

Conclusion of OneX M1

With its flexible external GPU support and exceptional CPU performance, the OneX M1 Mini PC is a serious contender in the Mini PC industry. Its small size, strong internals, and adjustable RGB lighting make it a flexible and desirable choice for a range of applications.
